Strengths: Law has one of the highest basketball IQ's of any player in this year's draft class. At 6'4", he is a very appealing point guard prospect. His ability to react to defenses, coupled with his ability to change speed and direction quickly, make him dangerous as a slasher. The muscle he added during the season also allows him handle contact better and finish. He was able to get to the free-throw line at a consistent rate. He has also shown impressive body control while going to the basket during his career. Law's game is stronger on the perimeter. He has a great mid-range pull up jump shot that complements a running floater that he can unleash effectively. His shooting form from beyond the arc is unorthodox, but he still managed to shoot nearly 46% from deep this season. Law does a fantastic job protecting the basketball and limiting his turnovers, especially in crunch time. His ability to win close games, almost single-handedly at times, will entice more than a few NBA scouts.
Weaknesses: Law is a very complete player skill-wise, but will lose some points due to less-than-stellar athleticism. He isn't going to impress anyone with a quick first step or leaping ability, which could pose a problem in the NBA against quicker perimeter players. His lack of explosiveness around the rim could force him to rely more on his mid-range game. Despite a very complete offensive repertoire, Law's defense is still a suspect part of his game.
Outlook: Law probably won't be the first point guard taken, but he should go in the lower end of the lottery, and he is the most NBA ready point guard in this draft class. He has a great understanding of the game and should see significant time early as a back up.
